I tell you what, I really like that guy! Today we went to the city office to vote. (We have a city election going on over a street closure.) On the way there, Onna's bike chain broke. She was really sad about it, and she even told the election board. I told her that we know a good mechanic that can probably fix it. She asked if would take as long as our car! (Our car has been at the Auto Clinic for over a month... waiting for it to act up for THEM.)
After we voted, we went to the post office. I pushed her on her bike, and she pedalled, even though the pedals were useless with no chain. As we were going back across the street, John came out of the Municipal Building. Onna hollered, "JOHN! Can you fix my bike?!?" He was on break, so he took a quick look at it. He told me that we needed a part, and what to get from the hardware store. He said he had to go unload commodities at Sunrise Terrace (an old-folks community), and he'd see us later. We went across to the hardware store, and when we got in there, Onna had to go potty RIGHT NOW. When we came out of the bathroom, John was standing there looking at the chain parts. He'd finished unloading the stuff, and had already picked out what we needed. We paid for it, and went outside. He fixed it right there on the sidewalk before he went back to work. What a guy! He made Onna's day, that's for sure!!
