Homecoming 2010

There are things I LOVE about Homecoming week, and there are things I very much dislike about it. I LOVE dressing up, seeing the students dress up, and everyone get into the school spirit. I love the excitiment of the parade and the big game.
I dislike the float building process. The idea that a few students work hard, and are "bossy" while everyone else gets left out with nothing to do.
I dislike the unstructured time during the day on Friday. There's a lot of time between float building and lunch, and then lunch and parade, that the kids don't have anything to do and that leads to TROUBLE!
I LOVE that we have new teachers. New, young teachers with fresh ideas that are not afraid to share them. We got together yesterday afternoon and did some brainstorming. I think next year, might be even better! I think there's a way to incorporate the good things about homecoming, and remove some the of negatives....
